With gyms closed and snow on the ground, it's not easy to motivate ourselves to exercise, but there has never been a more important time to work-out. Exercise is essential for mental wellbeing and is known to naturally improve anxiety and depression, which are at an all-time high during this lockdown. Is an online community set up to inspire, motivate, and support women who enjoy running. Each month they offer a selection of runs and challenges, that can be completed within a specified time, and once you've finished, they'll shower you in praise. Plus, they'll send you a beautiful finishers medal to add to your collection.

Every fancied climbing Mount Everest or trekking the Inca Trail without even leaving the house? Well, now you can with the Conqueror virtual challenges. Each time you complete a distance-based exercise such as running, walking, cycling and swimming you'll travel along the map of your chosen activity and receive virtual postcodes at crucial points - which is a nice touch.
You can go this alone or use their private community to start a group and help each other stay motivated

Virtual Racing
Their Moto is Healthy, Honest, Competition, and we all secretly love a little bit of competitiveness, don't we? Virtual Racing offer challenges that can be completed as a run, swim, cycle, cross-train or row and at your own pace. There is an entire virtual community on hand who will encourage and support you as you take part in your virtual run or races to earn you some fabulous bling. VR offer regular monthly events that must be concluded within a specified month and ongoing virtual challenges that have to be finished within six months of entry.

We love the idea of this challenge. Move it is a free month-long virtual event to help improve mental health. You could run, cycle or walk on your own and fundraise to help others if you like. Participants, who raise £100 for Mental Health UK will receive a medal and who doesn't like receiving an accolade?

If you're not up for a big challenge but would like to get more active, then try Race At Your Pace. Choose to walk, run, swim or cycle an achievable amount of miles in any given month or focus on maintaining your daily step count. You can even rope in the kids and tell them it is part of their homeschool learning.
